I was burnt out and hopeless, ready to close this chapter for good.

Just as women are expected to think, I believed that men would come to me with proposals, and my only job would be to reject the unwanted ones and say yes to the right one. I couldn’t have been more wrong!

Many proposals came, and I waited for the right man to come along but none came close to what I wanted in my dream husband.

My family and I had different things we were looking for and giving importance to, so we couldn't agree on whose criteria to use.

I was left with two choices: either marry someone I knew I’d never be happy with or stay single for the rest of my life. I was desperate to find another way.

It may seem like my new strategy would help me find the right person, but I was far from getting happily married. My search took me from online matrimonial platforms and apps to match-making aunties, all in vain. After a long time of effort, anticipation and disappointing experiences, I was ready to give up.

Feeling burnt out and hopeless, I decided to close this chapter for good.

I wish I knew then what I know now.

At the time when I hit rock bottom, my family’s encouragement to keep going helped me stay motivated not to give up.
